Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk recently expressed his belief that the electric vehicle company could surpass the valuation of all transportation companies, with the exception of his own rocket company SpaceX.

What Was Said: In a post on the social media platform X, Musk stated, “With a LOT of work and good ideas, I think it could exceed the value of all transport companies, excluding SpaceX.” This comment came in response to a user highlighting Tesla's growing market capitalization, which has currently outpaced many traditional automotive companies.

On the same day, Tesla's stock closed at $430.60, representing a 2.27% increase. Year-to-date, the company's shares are up 73.3%, a notable trend following Donald Trump‘s recent election win.

Current Valuations: As of the latest closing figures, Tesla boasts a market capitalization of around $1.382 trillion. In comparison, its American competitors, Ford Motor Co. F and General Motors GM, have been valued at $39.35 billion and $58 billion, respectively.

For context, SpaceX recently attained a valuation of $350 billion, solidifying its status as the most valuable private startup globally. This figure positions SpaceX above publicly traded competitors like Boeing, which has a market cap of $132.94 billion.

This ambitious vision set forth by Musk illustrates not only Tesla's potential for growth in the automotive sector but also reflects his broader aspirations within the transport industry and beyond.
