NACCE Partners with SkillPointe to Launch Advisory Council for School Counselors on Skilled Trades

Published July 3, 2024

In an effort to nurture the next generation of skilled trade professionals, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) has joined forces with SkillPointe, a comprehensive technology platform, to establish a School Counselor Advisory Council. This initiative aims to amplify the discourse around career options in the skilled trades, a sector rich with employment opportunities yet often overlooked in traditional academic counseling.

The Pursuit of Skilled Trade Proficiency

With the launch set in Cary, NC, on July 2, 2024, the partnership is set to enact a strategic plan that seeks to enlighten and inspire more students to consider careers in the skilled trades. Acknowledging the current gap in workforce development and the high demand for skilled professionals, NACCE's SkillPointe platform intends to equip school counselors with the necessary resources and knowledge to guide students towards these viable career paths.

A Resource for Counselors and Students Alike

The School Counselor Advisory Council will serve as a nexus for up-to-date industry insights and educational resources that school counselors can utilize in their advisory roles. The collaborative environment will foster a proactive approach to introducing students to the wealth of opportunities that the skilled trades present, counteracting the prevailing narrative that a four-year degree is the sole pathway to success.
