The American technology giant Microsoft has announced plans to invest 3 billion U.S. dollars in India, focusing on enhancing its cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure over the next two years. This significant investment was revealed by Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, during an event held in Bengaluru, India, as part of his visit to the country.

As part of this initiative, Microsoft aims to provide AI skills training to 10 million individuals in India by the year 2030. Nadella emphasized that this investment represents the "single-largest expansion" undertaken by Microsoft in the region, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering innovation and technology growth in India.

Additionally, Microsoft plans to broaden its cloud and AI infrastructure through various data center campuses across the country. Currently, the company operates three data center regions in India, with plans for a fourth to commence operations in 2026. This investment is intended to create a robust and scalable AI computing ecosystem, poised to meet the increasing needs of India's vibrant startup ecosystem and research community in AI.

By investing in the development of AI technologies and supporting talent training, Microsoft is positioning itself to play a crucial role in India's digital transformation. The initiative not only aims to enhance technological capabilities in the region but also seeks to empower the workforce with essential skills needed for the future.”
