Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Skips Trump's Inauguration for Lunar New Year Visit
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is set to miss the inauguration of US president-elect Donald Trump on January 20, breaking away from the trend of other prominent tech leaders who are attending.
This week, Huang is visiting East Asia, a trip he regularly makes in connection with the Lunar New Year celebrations, as noted by a source familiar with his plans. According to this source, Huang has never attended a US presidential inauguration before, and they chose to remain anonymous since the details had not been made public.
This decision places Nvidia apart from many leading tech companies. Notably, some of those companies, like Apple and Amazon, are sending their respective CEOs, Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos, to the inauguration ceremony. Additionally, Elon Musk of Tesla, known for his close ties to Trump, will also be present.
Currently, a spokesperson for Nvidia, which is based in Santa Clara, California, has not provided any comment about Huang's absence or any communication with the incoming administration.
As preparations continue outside the White House for Trump’s inauguration, Huang had previously expressed interest in connecting with Trump. Earlier, he indicated that he would be eager to collaborate and support the new administration in achieving success. However, at that time, he had not received an invitation to visit Trump at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
