Alibaba Strengthens Its AI Presence with QwQ-Max Launch
On Tuesday, the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding alibaba.com introduced its latest reasoning model, QwQ-Max. This new development aims to compete directly with established leaders in the artificial intelligence space, including OpenAI's o1 and DeepSeek's R1.
The Qwen team announced that the QwQ-Max-Preview is available at no cost on the Qwen chatbot website, as reported by SCMP.
The unveiling of QwQ-Max-Preview aligns with DeepSeek's initiative to publicly share five of its code repositories, marking a significant moment in AI collaboration and transparency.
Qwen's latest model represents a sophisticated AI system designed to mimic human thought processes, including decision-making and problem-solving. In response to rising interest in more accessible solutions, Alibaba is preparing to launch smaller open-source reasoning models that prioritize efficiency and lower resource consumption.

As a result of these advancements and positive market expectations, Benchmark’s Fawne Jiang has raised his price target for Alibaba, reflecting optimism regarding the company's AI growth and the resurgence of its e-commerce activities.
