CEO Jensen Huang Brings Exciting News for Nvidia Investors

Published November 9, 2024

A new era of AI could be just around the corner.

As the market eagerly awaits earnings from the artificial intelligence (AI) leader Nvidia (NVDA), investors received encouraging news from CEO Jensen Huang. He recently announced a partnership with Lenovo, which is expected to boost sales in a vital sector: the enterprise market.

A significant opportunity

Nvidia generates most of its revenue from major companies such as Microsoft, Meta Platforms, and Amazon. These tech giants utilize Nvidia's hardware to create massive server farms powering their AI products like Gemini and Meta AI. They have heavily invested in Nvidia, contributing billions to the company's success, and are likely to continue doing so for the foreseeable future. However, this reliance on a limited number of customers creates a risk. Any of these companies might choose to switch to another provider, like AMD, or begin developing their chips in-house, which many are reportedly considering. To mitigate this risk, Nvidia needs to broaden its customer base significantly.

This is where Nvidia's collaboration with Lenovo comes into play. The two companies plan to launch a platform called "Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage with Nvidia," aimed at enterprise customers of all sizes. This platform will offer custom AI solutions specifically designed to meet the unique needs of individual businesses. If Jensen Huang's vision comes to fruition, this initiative could greatly enhance business efficiency and profitability.

The platform will utilize Nvidia products comprehensively—from their leading Blackwell chips to networking hardware and custom software—potentially making it a considerable financial benefit for Nvidia if it gains traction.

The future of AI

Integral to this plan is the concept of "agentic AI." While previous generative AI technology has excelled at content generation and analysis, it still requires significant human input. Agentic AI, however, can navigate more complex scenarios and take actionable steps independently. For instance, imagine an AI marketing tool that can create a complete marketing plan, produce the necessary creative assets, and deploy them across various media channels while also monitoring and optimizing the campaign in real-time.

The new platform that Nvidia and Lenovo are developing will focus on delivering this form of agentic AI. The potential for efficiency gains and cost reductions could be substantial, making this product very appealing and potentially lucrative for Nvidia.

Looking ahead

The success of this product hinges on whether agentic AI can indeed deliver its promised value. If successful, it could mark a significant advancement in the overall AI narrative.

Fortunately for Nvidia investors, the company is already experiencing tremendous growth from its flagship AI chips. Demand remains strong, with no signs of decline. Although current earnings calls have raised some concerns among major tech investors about significant capital investments in AI infrastructure, spending is expected to continue at a high level for the foreseeable future. Interestingly, Nvidia's latest Blackwell chip has not yet been released, but it is already sold out for over a year.

While AMD lags behind in its offerings, the technology gap is closing, leading to increased competition. Nvidia might face pricing pressures from rival products, and prolonged order fulfillment issues could prompt customers to explore alternatives. Nevertheless, any significant threat remains distant, and Nvidia is well-positioned to defend its market share. For now, Nvidia is still at the forefront of the industry.
